Our Philosophy
We believe that everyone has an equal right to a happy and meaningful life. To this end we run a professional, quality certified service with well trained and enthusiastic staff. We believe in working with our participants, their families and carers and other organisations to get the best results for everyone.
Carinya Society is led by Debbie Mitchell. Debbie was appointed CEO in October 2010.
Debbie completed Undergraduate studies in physical education, movement and exercise physiology, whilst commencing her full time career in a disability service not so different to Carinya Society.
Her studies allowed Debbie to work with a broad range of people with disabilities her whole life.
Looking to further her academic pursuits, she completed a Masters in Special Education, at the University of Melbourne which focused on communication with individuals with autism.
Debbie is a passionate supporter that everyone can learn and grow no matter what your ability. It is a strong belief that she brings to Carinya Society for all the participants, residents and employees alike.
Her objective is to ensure that Carinya grows and learns from the changes in the sector and this is embedded into the delivery of the services we provide every day. This in turn ensures quality service provision for the individuals we support.
A dedicated team of staff, which includes 35 full-time staff, 20 part-time and two volunteers, works alongside Debbie.
